President Clark has declared Martial Law and dissolved the EarthGov senate, leaving some senators who haven't been arrested as fugitives. In the midst of havoc on Babylon 5, Londo Mollari greets Lady Morella, a prophetess and widow of the late Emperor Turhan. He intends to get her to give him a reading to determine whether the future he sees before him is actually going to happen. G'Kar is released early from his holding cell, and offers his help to Garibaldi for any upcoming trouble. Sheridan debates with himself over implementing the Martial Law orders on the station, and is outraged when all security arrangements appear to be made the exclusive rights of Nightwatch. Garibaldi pleads with his former colleagues not to give into the fascist state, but they do not back down. Sheridan realizes that Nightwatch is controlled by the political office and is therefore not an enforceable military organization within the chain of command.
G'Kar offers the assistance of a league of Narn, and with Zack Allen's help they have Nightwatch rounded up, captured and forced off the station. The Narn assume the role of security aboard the station, and in return for his services, G'Kar asks for inclusion in the secret alliance. Morella gives Londo his prophecy: that he will one day become Emperor of the Centauri Republic - as will Vir, one after the death of the other.
Notes: Londo has already been seen as Emperor in his dream in The Coming of Shadows. Morella also tells Londo of the opportunities he has to avoid the fire which awaits him. Two chances he has already wasted (see The Coming of Shadows, Knives and The Long, Twilight Struggle); and the other three are: "you must save the eye that does not see", possibly a reference to the Centauri Eye (Signs and Portents) or even G'Kar (see Falling Toward Apotheosis); "you must not kill the one who is already dead", which could mean Lord Refa (And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place) or Sheridan (War Without End, Whatever Happened to Mr Garibaldi?); and "you must surrender yourself to your greatest fear, knowing that it will kill you", possibly a reference to his actions in Into the Fire. G'Kar is still writing a journal of his experiences (Messages From Earth).
Guest Cast: Majel Barrett (Lady Morella) is the widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, and has appeared in all television incarnations of the TV series (and some of the films). Marshall Teague returns as Ta'Lon.
